OCEANFRONT Avon - NC Highway 12 - Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, CASABLANCA is the oceanfront property you want to walk into. A pet-friendly vacation home with a private boardwalk to the beach, this 5-bedroom/5-bath homage to the Academy Award-winning film Casablanca is the ideal place to spend your Outer Banks vacation.

As you pull up to the home from the private driveway that accommodates parking for at least six cars, you see the recreation area with a horseshoe pit and one of two grilles available to guests who stay at CASABLANCA. If you go up the front steps, you enter the first level of the main home which features suites for the stars!

“Round up the usual suspects.”

Each bedroom is named after one of Casablanca’s actors and has its own TV with streaming capability. The “Bogart Suite” and “Bergman Suite” both feature a king bed, en-suite bathroom, and access to a shared deck with porch swing. Next, there’s the “Lorre Suite” which is home to a queen bed. Additionally, bunk beds can be found in the “Rains Suite” and the “Henreid Suite."

This level also features a enormous bathroom with shower and tub, a laundry closet with a washer and dryer, and access to the front porch with a porch swing overlooking the recreation area - ideal for appreciating the sunset.

“Here’s looking at you, kid.”

Upstairs is the great room, or as the homeowners call it: the “Casablanca film set ”. You’ll find a well-outfitted kitchen, three tables, and a breakfast bar with combined seating for 18. There is an entertainment area with setup for streaming, movies, and video games. A modest library of board games, puzzles, DVDs, and beach reads is available for use. Feel complimentary to take a book or leave your book at the end of your stay. A full bathroom is also conveniently located on this level.

The “film set” leads out onto a deck with an ocean view and an overlook of the pool area. It features Adirondack chairs and benches along the side making it a phenomenal place to savor your morning coffee or gather with a cool drink.

On the ground level, there is a tiki bar and seating area with a grille that leads out to the pool. Additional comfortable lounge and deck chairs, a picnic table, and pool lighting make this area a focal point of your stay. The saltwater pool provides additional comfort for swimming and a cozy hot tub will regenerate you after a long day of adventuring on the Outer Banks.

“Oh, there's no hurry. Tonight he'll be at Rick's. Everybody comes to Rick's.”

Separate from the main home with its own private entrance, accessible from both the recreation area and the pool area, is the Pool Hall, lovingly referred to as “Rick’s Café Américain” by the homeowners. This detached space offers a TV, pool table, kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, blender), and a queen-size pullout couch. Themed after the iconic bar in the film, this space provides an exclusive refuge for early birds and nighttime owls alike.

CASABLANCA's access to the beach is a highlight for all visitors. The gate at the back of the pool area leads directly to a private boardwalk, ensuring you’ll be at the beach in no time! Lay down your towel, take in countless vistas of the pristine shoreline, and soak up the best of OBX before returning to CASABLANCA.

The home offers an outdoor shower and fish cleaning station in the recreation area and three different foot washing areas to rinse off the sand before enjoying “Rick’s Café Americain” or the “film set” inside.

CASABLANCA is conveniently located within walking distance to many local eateries, coffee stores, beach equipment units, Avon Pier, and a grocery store. You’ll find Avon to be a amazing community and CASABLANCA's premium location puts you right at its heart. Envisioning your name in the marquee? Cast yourself in Avon’s CASABLANCA by booking today! The Cotton Gin

For those traveling to the Outer Banks, The Cotton Gin is a beloved landmark with its large windmill and picturesque gardens. The Cotton Gin has stood in the same location since 1929, starting as a working cotton gin and growing to a gift store with 4 locations. Visitors are treated to a unique shopping experience in our main store in Jarvisburg, as well as our beach stores in Corolla, Duck, and Nags Head. Explore room after room filled with décor for your home and coastal fashions for both men and women. Discover the brands you really want, like, Vera Bradley, Vineyard Vines, La Mer Luex, Simply Southern, Lindsay Phillips, Scout, Pandora, Kameleon, Brighton, Spartina, Tommy Bahama, Southern Tide and Salt Life and Old Guys Rule - all under one roof!

Don’t forget the gourmet market, or shop our beautiful linens for your bedroom and bath. We also feature coastal books and fine art, or just a whimsical fun gift to bring home to family and friends. Stop by soon and don’t forget to try our estate grown wines in our stores or visit our vineyard and winery, Sanctuary Vineyards, located adjacent to the original Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg.

Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

“As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
