Save money and avoid the crowds. - For several reasons fall is a very special time to see the Outer Banks. Because days (and water) are still warm but evening hours are cooler, it's like experiencing two seasons in one vacation. Ocean treasures such as shells and sea glass are plentiful which makes them easier to find. The ocean shifts daily. It's behavior and color change with the winds and you can observe the many personalities of the Ocean while here. The commitment of the anglers lining the piers and surf is palpable. The drum are running and a way of life, a tradition, returns to the Outer Banks.
