Welcome to It's A Shore Thing by KEES Vacations


A cheerful and sunny yellow cedar-shake exterior greets you as you arrive at It's A Shore Thing. You will feel happy before you even enter the house! The multiple decks with Adirondack furniture feature beautiful views of the majestic Atlantic and promise hours of relaxation. The intimate pool area is complete with plenty of lounge furniture, a 4-person hot tub to enjoy the starry Outer Banks nights and an outside shower, so handy for sandy beach bodies. Beach access is just 449 ft away, so it's very convenient to spend the day soaking up the Vitamin D and enjoying the gorgeous aquamarine water.


As you enter the home through the sliding glass door, you will find yourself in the game room with a regulation pool table and TV. This level also features a bedroom with a pyramid bunk and a full bath. You will also find the laundry center here.


Upstairs on the first level, you will find 1 bedroom with a Queen and 1 bedroom with two Twins that share a full bath. There is also a Queen En Suite with its own private balcony - perfect for midnight stargazing or sharing a romantic glass of wine. On the first level and second level of the home, you'll find the spacious great room, with living, dining and kitchen areas. Gleaming hardwood floors give this area a beautiful flow. There is also a wonderful deck spanning the length of the home accessible from the living and dining areas. Throw open the doors and bring the outside in! Or sit outside for a while and enjoy the views and the salt air with your favorite beverage.


The bright, functional kitchen features white appliances, plenty of cabinet space and everything you need to create either a quick snack or a full course meal. The breakfast bar with seating for 4 has beautiful, cushioned captain's chairs. When it comes to dining, there are plenty of choices at Its A Shore Thing! In addition to the bar seating for 4, you can enjoy the formal dining table with seating for 8 overlooking two windows or a more cozy space with a table and seating for 4 with a view of the ocean. The living area boasts plenty of comfortable seating with a sectional sofa and an additional chair. This is also the entertainment center with a flat screen TV, DVD and collections of movies to watch. A Queen En Suite and additional powder room round out the second level at Its A Shore Thing.

**Private unheated pools will open on April 16th and close on October 1st. Pools and hot tubs are cleaned weekly and no later than 6 p.m. on check-in day.**

The Cotton Gin has stood in the same location since 1929, starting as a working cotton gin and growing to a gift store with 4 locations. Visitors are treated to a unique shopping experience in our main store in Jarvisburg, as well as our beach stores in Corolla, Duck, and Nags Head.     Most know The Cotton Gin as a must-stop shop for fine gifts, beachwear, souvenirs and so much more, but this retailer has a long-standing history within the Outer Banks. A local landmark that holds almost a century of memories, The Cotton Gin started from humble beginnings and continues to adapt to the times and tourists. Tommy Wright’s family has been in the Outer Banks for nearly 200 years. His great-great grandfather, Jacob Francis Wright, shipwrecked in Duck back in the early 1800s. Calling these barrier islands his new home, Wright and his family acclimated to their new environment.

     

    Adaptation is a common theme for the Wright family. Tommy and his wife Candace, who continue to steer The Cotton Gin, have seen not only their business change with the times, but the Outer Banks as a vacation destination as well. A farm market in Jarvisburg eventually transformed and flourished into several retail locations dotting the Outer Banks.

     

    “As the area changed and tourism took off in the 1960s, the family saw people coming for vacations, so they began to grow vegetables and things developed from there,” says Tommy Wright. The Wright family expanded upon the farm market and began to remodel a working cotton gin, later transforming the gin into The Cotton Gin general store in the late 1960s. While the additions to the farm store drew visitors, it was their encounters with the Wright family that kept people coming back year after year, which is something that remains true today.
