Newly renovated and ready to rent for 2021, we're excited to welcome Groovin' to the island and the OBR family! This is an oceanfront property in Avon with eight total bedrooms (seven main bedrooms), and 10 total bathrooms (eight full-sized and two half-sized).

Experience breathtaking views of the ocean on every level of this home. The contemporary picture windows frame each unique and lively angle that surrounds this groovy home. Feel the relaxing effects of luxury that come from the elevated finishing touches, including modern-day interior design, quartz countertops, statement lighting fixtures, and designer stainless-steel appliances.

This home is guaranteed to uplift your spirits or 'lift you up' in its unique see-through elevator. Never miss an opportunity to see the island with nearly every room, including the elevator, allowing for a sneak peek outside to view the sound or the ocean! Watch the famous Hatteras Island sunsets on the sound side from the top loft, or relax on any one of the three-tiered, ocean-side decks with built-in seating. In addition, the interior decorating is top of its class with natural toned furniture and quirky, yet colorful, statement art pieces and wall decor.

At the very peak of this property is a tower loft that overlooks the ocean as well as the living room. The perfect place to sip your coffee or wine, catch up on some reading in a quiet space, or play a few board games. If you are on a flex-cation, this is also the perfect spot to work from home while watching over the ocean without any of the accompanying wind. Bonus points if you can spot a dolphin or maybe even two!

Directly below is the living room with high vaulted ceilings and an assortment of windows that open to let in the calming sea breeze. Listen to the serene sounds of the ocean beneath two tri-blade ceiling fans circulating the ocean air as you kick back on a large L-shaped sofa. The gray, driftwood-colored floors are sure to keep the room cool during the summer. In addition, this home is equipped to accommodate you all year round, because directly below the large living room TV is an electric fireplace, which is perfect for cozying up to in the off-season! This main level also includes a king-size main suite with a walk-in tile shower and a full house-width deck to capture the panoramic view of the shoreline.

Adjacent to the living room is the wine fridge and dining room table with contemporary chairs that all come together seamlessly beneath the upper loft's overhang. Across from the dining room is an island breakfast bar that separates the cooking space from the rest of the living room. Enjoy an Islanders dream kitchen, featuring classic black kitchen drawers, white cabinets, quartz countertops, ice maker, and bringing it all together with a splash of coastal color is the ocean teal tile backsplash. An additional amenity included to resist stains, corrosion and ensure overall long-lasting durability and luxury are the stainless-steel appliances and hardware. This kitchen's stainless-steel gas stove has six burners, perfect for preparing large family meals. You'll also find it easy to clean up with two stainless steel sinks, one on the island overlooking the living room and the other on the counter in front of a window overlooking the shoreline.

Just one level lower is the mid-deck, which provides shaded protection from the sun, one of two hot tubs, and another fantastic view of the ocean! Inside are three beautifully decorated main bedrooms (one king and two queens), a room with two single beds, and two GE washer and dryer units. The bedrooms all come carpeted, complete with flatscreen TVs and perfectly matching dressers and bed frames. Each of the bedrooms offer a different playful design to customize each rooms' individual look and feel throughout the home while adding a personal touch when you pick your uniquely designed bedroom. All the bathrooms are similarly designed with sleek, black-framed mirrors and tiled shower/tubs.

The lower level is the hangout room, complete with a wine fridge, ice maker, a game table, and bathroom, and three lovely king main suites. This is sure to be the best spot to rendezvous back from the beach for a quick drink refill, bathroom break, or to cool off from the heat before going back out on the beach. The door on this level has a full-body window that calls you straight out towards the oceanfront deck. Here you can unwind and relax in the homes' second hot tub. From this deck, the stairs take you down to the property's private beach access.

Out in the area nearby is the Avon Pier. The pier is a local attraction ideal for sightseers and fishing enthusiasts alike. This home is also conveniently located near the villages most esteemed restaurants featuring the Island's unique culinary cuisines. All in all, with three levels of picturesque ocean scenery, a total of 10 large flatscreen TVs, two large hot tubs, a see-through elevator, a hangout room, loft tower, and tennis court access, you and your whole crew are sure to be feelin' groovy all vacation long when you stay at Groovin!

Ben Franklin

Ben Franklin

Stop by Nags Head's Ben Franklin at Mile Post 10 on the Bypass where you will find everything you need for the beach! From Clothing, T-shirts and Swimwear to Boards, Chairs, Umbrellas and Tackle. You'll find it all…and of course, we have the best selection of Souvenirs anywhere on the Outer Banks. Enjoy your vacation! Independently owned by a member of one of the Outer Banks’ oldest families, the Ben Franklin store is stocked with just about everything a visitor would need to go to the beach.

Ben Franklin stores were once part of a five-and-dime retail empire, with about 2,500 locations across the country in its heyday. As decades passed and the times and customers began to change, many closed their doors, leading to fewer than 150 of these nostalgic shops. Nags Head Ben Franklin, however, has withstood the test of time and adapted to the needs of its customers to provide a memorable shopping experience on the Outer Banks.

Debbie Terry Tolson, manager of the Ben Franklin location in Nags Head, recalls working with former owner Tommie Daniels. Daniels’ father, Moncie Daniels, started the business in downtown Manteo in the early 1900s. The Daniels family has been a longstanding fixture in the Outer Banks business community—Moncie even sold gas to the Wright brothers in 1903.

Tommie, with an excellent business mind, saw the opportunity the new Bypass presented and, in 1977, he opened the Nags Head location of Ben Franklin. He was one of the first businesses on the Bypass,” Tolson says.In addition to a new location, the Ben Franklin store saw a new group of customers.

“People would come from all around because Tommie had a little bit of everything—it was more like a five and 10 then,” Tolson explains. “As he went to the beach, he began to get more tourists, so he started catering more and more to visitors.”

Today, the 21,000-square-foot souvenir shop quickly catches the attention of anyone driving by thanks to the ocean-themed mural that decorates the façade of the building, painted by local artist Rob Snyder. This Ben Franklin location has become the must-stop shop for both first-time visitors to the area and generations of families who escape to the Outer Banks annually.

Tolson credits the great prices and friendly customer service to the success of the location, which keeps families returning.“People come in all the time and tell me, ‘my grandmother or my grandfather used to bring me here and now I’m bringing my children,’” she shares. “One of my favorite parts about working here is seeing the people come back year after year.”
