Enjoy an evening of history, mystery, and a few spooky surprises along the way at this Halloween-themed event that takes place at the Roanoke Island Maritime Museum, and which will be a wonderfully scary and engaging event for “kids” of all ages.

The Roanoke Island Maritime Museum is a favorite attraction in downtown Manteo, and features a wealth of exhibits that chronicles the Outer Banks’ deep ties to the maritime and fishing industry. From the 1883 Carolina Shad boat the Ella View, to the treasure trove of tools and “living exhibits” that are found within the on-site working boat shop, the museum is truly an all-encompassing site where visitors can peer into the history and culture of the region’s array of working watermen. During this special event, the museum will be open after hours, and kids will have an especially spooky time touring the exhibits – (just be prepared for a few surprises that aren’t typical for a museum visit along the way.) The event coincides perfectly with a trick-or-treating expedition in Manteo, which is a popular downtown region with plenty of historic residences and gorgeous views along the waterfront. Fun for all ages, this event is sure to be a memorable part of any Halloween-themed celebration.
