Description

This beach cottage provides excellent views and lovely sunsets over Roanoke Sound, yet it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach access. Close to area attractions and just 2 blocks from Jennette's Pier. Shopping and dining within walking distance.

Amenities include all Smart TVs or with Roku streaming, DVD Player. Rec room has wet bar, mini-fridge, pool table, foosball table, books, movies and games. Great room has pub table with 2 seats, 4 bar stools, pantry (2 full size refrigerators in kitchen area), dining room seating for 10. Picnic table and deck furniture. Pool is 12x28 with a large area around it.

Located in Whalebone Cay Subdivision on cul-de-sac, mile post 16.2. Plenty of room in front of cottage to park small boat/jet ski, etc.

Guest Review: "Wonderful! Fantastic family venue!" " For our first ever beach house rental with kids and grandkids, it turns out we picked a feature-packed rental home. The living and sleeping areas are incredibly spacious and well-planned for multi-family use. The open, well-lit kitchen had plenty of high-quality dishes, cookware and utensils, and the unadvertised extra pantry with 2nd refrigerator was a welcome surprise for the cooks! We made good use of the huge dining table for family board games, and when we entertained visiting relatives from Ohio there was plenty of room for a total of 21 people for dinner. The grandkids enjoyed the game room, and they loved the large pool! There are multiple back decks with good views of the pool below and of the ocean with lifeguarded beach near Jennette's Pier, just a short walk away. (The pier is open for night-fishing, and our dads and sons took the opportunity to make a memory by catching a skate!) A favorite family highlight was watching a spectacular lightning storm over the sound from the front deck off the dining room. We appreciated the personal contact with the owner, both through the rental process and in meeting our needs during our visit. We would definitely rent this house again."

This house was very clean and we loved that it only took minutes to walk to the beach. We do a lot of cooking so the 2 refrigerators were a definite plus. Beach Realty was very responsive and helpful which we appreciated.

Family Vacation was a Great Success!

Our first trip to the Outer Banks and we had a great time with our kids and grandsons. Location was great with groceries, ice cream and fish market within walking distance. Beach and pier just a short walk, pool and hot tub, rec room with pool and foosball tables were very welcome. Enough dining space for all 10, plenty of bed and bath rooms. So much to do and see with only short rides to access. Property was clean and well appointed. Two refrigerator/freezers was real bonus! Staff was responsive and communicated well. When arriving, we missed the turnoff twice, so perhaps a sign at the entrance from the highway would help. Teenagers soaked up a lot of wifi - perhaps a second channel? Overall, was a wonderful place to stay. Thank you!

AC worked very well. CON. Poolside furniture was old and not very stable. One lounge broke on us. They came and removed all of the furniture on day (2) and never replaced it..

Traffic too noisy!

We love the house and the location. But, we did not love the traffic on the very busy road which is so noisy we could not sleep. You must carry ear plugs for this one.

This was a Christmas present and the vacation as family was wonderful. The house was big enough for everyone to find a spot. The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful and beach access was easy. Great location, although there is constant traffic noise due to the closeness of the main road. The extra refrigerator in the kitchen made storing food for 3 families helpful. Having a pool to swim in after being at the ocean was relaxing. Looking forward to next year's visit.

Great for Family Vacations!

We had an excellent stay. 8 extended family members covering 3 generations from pre-teen to seniors. The house was very comfortable for us. There was plenty of space to be together, and also the availability of some private space when needed. The pool was a hit with all as was the hot tub. The location is within a short walk to the beach, Jeanette Pier, a nearby market, and the local ice cream shop (highly recommended!). We had 3 SUVs and could park all for easy access.

We went on a crabbing trip, then took our haul to the seafood market at the corner. They steamed and seasoned them for us for a reasonable price. The blue crabs were excellent. We also took a drive down to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, played disc golf on Roanoak Island, and visited the Wright Brothers Memorial. There are also several putt-putt courses nearby and an outlet mall for those who need retail therapy. The week was a perfect mix of lazing in the sun and checking out the local area.

Love the location! Close to Sam and Omie's and cahoons market! On a small cul-de-sac
, lots of parking available, close to outlets! Just wish there was a half bath on top floor instead of using master bath!

Everything we hoped for and more. The extra refrigerator/pantry area made the Thanksgiving celebration much more manageable. Hot tub was clean and warm and the fireplace worked like a charm. Great ocean views on the backside and on the front side a panoramic view of the sound with great sunsets. Walking distance to the pier, market, and restaurant.

Rental was nice. Very surface clean. Nice location with exception of being right on the highway. (If you are looking for quiet location, this is not it.) Could use a thorough clean (drawers, cabinets, etc) and a review of cleanliness of utensils and pots and pans.

We had fun!

Five friends had a wonderful stay at Shell Town. Everything was up to par. The location is very central,however know that you're near some traffic.
Overall it's not a big deal though so don't let that stop you.

really enjoyed the place

It was my brother and me two more friends showed up at last two days so just was 4 only showed up sister was having a wedding so people canceled on coming down. The place was a little tore up picture frames nocked of the walls outside some white fence peices were off the fence me and my brother put back up and fixed them because they were in the way we were thinking the last tend dents might have been a little rough on things. But we very much enjoyed the place great location fabulous layout everything I was expecting I will definitely be staying again at this place it was actually just perfect thanks for allowing me to rent it.

We have rented Shell Town for multiple years now and have never been disappointed. The home was clean and appeared to be well maintained. We were within walking distance to shopping, the beach, restaurants and more! When the surf was rough, we had the pool as an alternative! Here is what I wish I would have known.... the property has on it 2 coffe pots 1 Keurig, blender, can opener decent dishwasher, washer & dryer. The unit was dated but maintained and loved. Sunset is pretty from the front balconies. Ample fridge and freezer space. But... bring own soap, tp, paper towels EVERYTHING you need to live for the week. Food Lion is close to property. This was my first time renting a house and overall it was a great experience!

Family Gathering and 40th Birthday Surprise

Very enjoyable! House was nice and suited 8 people very well. The two refrigerators was a nice touch allowing us to store bulking stuff like bottled water. Pool and hot tub was enjoyed by all. Busy highway in the front is very noisy however the backyard area was great. Ceiling fan in master bedroom stuck on high was annoying. Ice cream shop, fresh seafood market and small convenience market just steps away. Gas grill would have been nice but we learned how to use charcoal again.

The property was actually larger than we thought from the pictures. The extra 'bar' fridge and storage was a great discovery! Being walking distance from the beach and ice cream were a huge selling point. An easy drive to wherever you needed/wanted to be.

Decent House

I have stayed at many houses in the OBX. This house is decent but the TV's need to be upgraded. I get it, this is a beach house and you should be at the beach. However, at night, I would enjoy watching the football games or movies on a TV bigger than 30 inches. Which by the way is in the main living room. Other than that, the house worked for us. The pool is very nice with a 5ft depth. The hot tube could be upgraded but it works. Very close walk to the beach!

Nice house and nice location. Had some issues with the ceiling leaking and the oven and blender not working but the problems that could be fixed were fixed in a timely manner. Very happy with the overall stay. Within walking distance of the beach and Jeanette's pier. Little grocery shop and a restaurant in walking distance off of beach road. Would highly recommend.

Family vacation 2016

One of my best experiences in the obx! I've been renting houses 20 plus yes, but this house location was perfect for us. Kids loved the ice cream shop, and I enjoyed the easy walk to market and beach! House had everything I needed and more. First year that I didn't come home with car full of sand, because I never had to drive. looking forward to staying here again next summer??

Great property. Only issue is proximity to Route 12. (Very close) All amenities are very nice and unit is well provisioned with kitchen supplies. Beach realty was very understanding in letting us leave the keys in unit as opposed to taking them up to MP 2.5 from MP 16. We had come in from the South and that saved us about 1 1/2 of extra driving. The unit is only about 5 miles from the Bodie Is. lighthouse and the beach at the Hatteras National seashore. Very nice. Price was acceptable and the unit was in wonderful shape. Pool and Hot tub were very clean and nice. Recommend Beach and this unit.

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. We will also are happy we could make things easier on you by leaving the keys at the unit! We will mention to the owner the possibility of getting keyless entry on the home (we think that may help)! Family vacation for Heather s family

Great Home

The house had everything we needed. The mattresses were very hard but we got used to them,I guess. There needs to be a straw mat at the outside shower door so when coming out of the pool you don't have to walk through someones shower water.Also under the car port the cement is unlevel where it connects in the first section and could cause serious injury. Overall though I had a great vacation here.

Family Reunion

This is the third year our family of nine has vacationed at Shelltown in Nags Head. Our daughters, son-in-law and four grandchildren raninging in ages 3 to 12 come in from Colorado and New Mexico and this is a time for cousins to reunite and have a fun beach vacation. The location of the house is central to shopping, activities, and restaurants. We took the little kids on the Pirate Adventure in Manteo. What a great time! Also went to the aquarium in Manteo, fishing on Jeanette's pier, fishing on the beach, and crabbing. Whalebone Seafood shop is next door and Cahoon's convenience store and Fatboyz ice cream are nearly in our back yard. The beach is a short walk as well as Sam and Ommie's restaurant. The house is perfect for our family and the pool and hot tub are always a big hit. The layout has 4 bedrooms on the middle level with the 5th bedroom on the top level. Views of the ocean and the sound can be seen from the top level decks. This is a very spacious and comfortable home, well equipped and furnished. We especially like the addition of the twin beds replacing the bunk beds in one of the kid's rooms. The kitchen is well stocked. The dishwasher is a little old and the carpets are showing some wear. The owners are very responsive to any problems you might have, of which we had none this year. The first year we had a loose bannister in the living room and they sent a repairman right away. Sheets and towels are supplied and your beds are all made and waiting for you when you arrive. We are coming back again next year and are looking forward to another fun family vacation at Shelltown.

Summer Family Time

We were a family of 10 and this layout worked perfect for all of us! The place was clean and met our needs. The beach was a short walk away and so was the ice cream shop! Having a pool and hot tub was perfect for the kids and adults. The only thing we would change is not having to drive 15 miles to pickup and drop off keys, also having a roll of toilet paper available when you first arrive.
