Description

Duck Haven is an amenity-filled, tastefully decorated home located in the ocean-to-sound Tuckahoe neighborhood in Duck on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This comfortable & well-maintained, family-oriented home in a cul-de-sac setting will have you returning year after year for a relaxing & fun-filled vacation.

Upon your arrival at Duck Haven, everyone will appreciate the ease & convenience of using the exterior Stair Tamer cargo lift to deliver suitcases and groceries to the 2nd and 3rd floors by use of a remote control.

As everyone settles into Duck Haven’s 5 bedrooms (2 of which have adjoining bathrooms), they will be pleased to find that the king and queen beds and the lower bunk beds are freshly made with crisp linens & the top bunk beds are ready to be made with fresh linens that are placed atop the turned back coverlets. There are 12 sets of bath, hand & face towels on hand for when it’s time to freshen up & bath mats are provided for all baths. Two kitchen towels are also provided.

Duck Haven is loaded with activities for "kids" of all ages, including baby & toddler gear, flat screen HDTVs in all bedrooms, the 1st floor living area, & the great room, BluRay DVD players on all TVs, a DVD & book library, games & puzzles, 3rd floor covered deck with 3 rocking chairs & 2 side tables, Nags Head swing & hammock, basketball goal, sports items & outdoor games and a private pool & hot tub with pool deck lighting. Everyone will enjoy the large & secluded sandy backyard with BBQ, picnic & play areas that are lighted for night-time use. The chef will appreciate grilling on their choice of a charcoal grill or a gas grill & the cook will enjoy the well-equipped kitchen and dining area which accommodates 12. Keep in touch while at Duck Haven with free high-speed wireless internet.

The electronic keyless entry systems on both the carport entry door & the middle level front door conveniently allows Duck Haven's guests to easily come & go while enjoying the area’s many activities. Load Duck Haven’s multiple beach chairs & your own beach gear into the Wheel-eeze beach cart, and after a short walk to Tuckahoe’s community oceanfront boardwalk, everyone will be enjoying the sand & frothy surf of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s just minutes to the community’s other amenities including an outdoor pool with bathroom facilities, a tennis court which is also lined for pickleball & a pier with dock and gazebo on the gentle Currituck Sound where the kids will enjoy crabbing & everyone will be in awe of the spectacular sunsets.

The picturesque village of Duck with unique locally-owned shops, galleries & restaurants is an easy stroll or relaxing bike ride away along the paved roadside path. The 11 acre Duck Town Park is a beautiful recreational facility which offers many scheduled summer activities & includes an amphitheater, playground, picnic shelter, gazebo and a public kayak/canoeing launch in addition to the many walking trails through the maritime forest & a mile long sound-front lighted boardwalk.

Convenient shopping is nearby with supermarkets (Harris Teeter & Food Lion) pharmacies (CVS & Walgreens) and a Walmart Supercenter & Home Depot located less than 5 miles south of Duck Haven.

Great stay but a lot of traffic. Everything was just as described, easy walk to the beach and pool for the rest of the time.

Duck Haven Heaven

Had a great time at Duck Haven. The house is well maintained with a definite beach house flair. Instructions and labels abounded, making it very easy to work and find things. Though we didn't need, the house was equipped to be very child friendly. Between the beach and pool at the house my vacation was complete. Would definitely recommend this property.

This property is located close to town and beach. The owners have provided tons of amenities to make the stay enjoyable. Lots of kitchen items, baby and beach gear, books, etc. The pool was terrific. Some issues with front door entry but managers resolved that mid week. House has many options to spread out when you have a big group.

2021 Family Vacation

We loved the house. Used the pool for hours. Rocked in the rocking chairs and watched the deer and rabbits play in the early morning. Loved the two person swing and the hammock. The house had everything we needed and there were plenty of notes to explain where things were located. Cargo elevator was a huge help. Appreciated all the information especially about the "midges". After the first night we made sure to close the blinds and keep lights off as needed. We would definitely enjoy staying at Duck Haven again.

Duck Heaven - I mean (Duck Haven)

By far one of the best vacations my family has been on. Everything was perfect prompt with instructions, lots of information in the household and in a perfect location. I believe we will certainly stay here again in the future. Clean, organized and spacious. Only a couple of comments for improvement would be the changeout of all the super firm adult beds. Back and hips still recovering from stay. The AC unit was governed at 70F and many times cycled on and off. For the expense the renter should be able to set below 70F. All in all a good vacation though:)

A Famliy Time

Had a great stay at Duck Haven. Could not have gone better Took my daughter and her 3 kids there. Place was great. Kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of room for the kids to roam. Annual Fun Family Vacation

Every other year we rent a house in the OBX for the family - 8 adults, 2 kids and a baby this year. All of us thought that the house was amazing, for various reasons.

I loved the directional notes that the owners left all around the property. It provided detail instructions about how to use everything.
My wife who is VERY picky (and seems to write someone after every trip or hotel stay or product she uses about what was wrong) was very satisfied with everything about the property.
My three daughters and their significant others said things like, "comfortable", "has everything we need", "I love that the highest floor has a covered balcony", "The sunset on the soundside was beautiful", and basically raved about the place.

We've been vacationing at the OBX for over 25 years. This was one of our favorite homes/rentals.

The daughters also loved the special delivery to us by the owners.

The location in relationship to Duck made for an easy bike ride.

Family summer trip

This house was everything we could ask for. It had a pool, hot tub, and 5 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. The kitchen was furnished with everything you would need. The house also had a grocery/ luggage elevator so you did not have to carry these items to the third floor. Perfect house for a perfect get away. I highly would recommend it.

We had a great time. They house was well appointed. It had everything you could need. From the kitchen to playroom and outdoor fun! We would definitely rent here again. The only thing missing was a vacuum. We had a two year old with us and we were afraid to let him eat inside! Lol. Great stay!

Another great vacation!

We had another great vacation at Duck Haven. The weather was very warm so the pool was utilized every day!!! We also took the short walk to the beach where everyone enjoyed themselves. The house was big enough for the 12 of us, which includes 2 small children. The baby gates and crib/pack n play were a blessing. This was our 2nd trip to this house in 5 years, and both were wonderful family vacations.

The owners of this property thought of everything.Not only was the kitchen well equipped but everything was labeled as to where it belonged. The cargo container was especially helpful! A perfect Family Vacation

Duck Haven met all our family's expectations and more. The house was just as described. Clean with every amenitiy one might want. Lots of space for all members of the family from child to adult. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed having the pool to cool off whenever we chose to. We appreciated the go to sheets with information for the area since this was our first time in Duck. The location on a cul de sac was perfect and very quiet sitting outside in the eveing on the decks was what a vacation time should be like.

The Cartwright family did an amazing job at providing a family friendly vacation getaway for us! Just when we thought we needed to go out and buy something for our stay, we found it right there! We had 11 people staying at Duck Haven and the space provided was more than enough for everyone. The pool was fantastic, the hammocks provided outdoor relaxation and the location was great! The Cartwright's provided a great informational binder with instructions and recommendations which were so helpful! A delightful home for a Family Retreat!

Our family of 10 had a wonderful stay. The two decks, pool and sandy outdoor game area provided plenty of extra space for everyone to spread out. Just a ten minute walk to the beach and 15 minute walk into town made Duck Haven an ideal location. Day trips to the Currituck Lighthouse in Corolla; the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kitty Hawk and Bodie Lighthouse in Nags Head proved to be fun and informative excursions as well. The house was well organized and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Expandable toddler gates at the top of each set of stairs was greatly appreciated to keep our little ones safe. Our family also enjoyed shady morning runs, tennis matches and bike rides. A shout out to "Tree House Coffee and Rope Ladder Kitchen" for wonderful breakfasts! Thank you Cartwright family for taking such good care of your guests. We are already looking forward to a return visit!

I've been renting vacation places for 15 years, and this was the beat beach house we've ever stayed in. The owners were so thoughtful-they had all the amenities and gear to make vacation easy for a family. The house was in pristine condition, there was helpful information throughout and the facilities were even better than in the pictures. We'd want to stay here every time we come to OBX.

Our 50th Anniversary Vacation

We had 12 family members with us on this vacation and the house could not have been better. It is exactly as described. It is a beautiful home with absolutely everything we needed supplied. The pool was a huge hit with everyone and we took advantage of it several times a day as the weather was quite warm. We used the tennis courts and community pool and especially enjoyed having the carts to carry items to the beach. Members of the family enjoyed Yoga on the lawn and a wonderful magic show put on by the town of Duck! I do not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone.

Great for a Large Family

The house was in great shape and could accommodate a lot of people. It was nice having the game room downstairs so the kids could stay up after everyone else went to bed. Although blocked from view because of trees, it was located next to Duck Rd which experiences a lot of traffic, so if you are a light sleeper that may be an issue. Our only negative about the property was a third floor railing fell off the outside porch when a child was leaning on it. It looked like it was held in with a couple of staples, and those were rusted. Luckily, no one was hurt, and we just kept smaller children off the balcony for the remainder of the trip. It was a very easy walk to the beach, and crabbing on the sound was a fun experience!

Dream Vacation!

The house was beautiful. Fully stocked kitchen. We actually overpacked some things that we didn't need such as hand soap. Loved the location and seclusion of the home. The kids had the time of their life. Prior to getting there we had no idea of what soundside and oceanside meant, etc. Very happy with the location. The men especially loved crabbing in the sound and were excited for the crab cage. Duck is the best area! Thank you for sharing your home!

The house was great. Very clean, equipped with everything you could ever need. Enjoyed the pool, hot tub and the layout was perfect. Our group ranged in age from 1 yr. to 66 yrs. & it worked well for all. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Vacation at Duck Haven

The rental we had was perfect for our family of 6 adults and 4 children. There was plenty of room and the abundance of diversions was fantastic. The boys loved the pool, the basketball net and the games . I would definitely recommend this beautiful property. The one thing that was inconsistent was the hot tub was not as clean as we would expect
