Let the kids enjoy a morning of fun and exploring at this special and free program that’s offered by the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuges. The Preschool Young Naturalist Program incited the youngest visitors and locals to discover something new about the local Outer Banks environment through hands-in activities, a light area walk, and a lot of fun and learning.

The Preschool Young Naturalist Program is held every Friday throughout the year at the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge’s Visitor Center, which is found in the town of Manteo in the central Outer Banks. Lasting just an hour or so, participants will be treated to a cool arts and craft project that coincides with a lesson or a little info on a unique topic that ties in the nature and wild surroundings of the National Wildlife Refuge. Depending on the session as well as the weather, participants may also enjoy a walk along the trail that borders the Visitor Center to check out the wildlife in their own backyard. Free to both locals and visitors alike, this event serves as an ideal way for the Outer Banks’ youngest explorers to learn something new about the wild environment that’s found throughout this coastal North Carolina destination.
