The Frisco Native American Museum and History Center is well known as a unique and fascinating destination for southern Outer Banks visitors, and on Fridays, explorers can make a visit to this destination even more special through an inside look into Hatteras island’s original inhabitants, the Croatan Native Americans.

Recent archeological evidence suggests that the Croatans were island locals for many years before the explorers arrived, and the island is also where some of the oldest English artifacts in North America have been uncovered. During this special program, visitors will learn all about the village life of the native folks that original English explorer John White met, will see a long house that is under construction, and can even try their hand at scraping out the inside of a historic dug out canoe. With a myriad of activities and insider information, this educational and interactive program sheds new light on the roots of Hatteras Island, and will be a fascinating trip through history for visitors of all ages. The event takes place every Friday in the summer, and with a central Frisco location at the Frisco Native American Museum and History Center, is an easy trip for visitors staying throughout the villages of Hatteras Island.
