Hampton Lodge Camping Resort is a basic, low-frills campground located seven miles down Water Lily Road in Coinjock and roughly halfway between Chesapeake and Kitty Hawk. Its appeal is found mostly in its quiet seclusion and breathtaking view of the Currituck Sound.
It offers a family atmosphere to which many return weekly or year after year, with a pier and other access to the sound for all the fishing, crabbing, boating and swimming you care to take in, and, adds one long-time visitor - a lot of laughs and friendship.
There are water, sewer and electric hookups for RVs, and tent camping and pets are also welcomed. Available on site are a dump station, hot showers, laundry facilities, restrooms, a recreation room, and a kids’ playground. There’s also a general store with gasoline, carrying RV and fishing supplies, groceries and other basic needs.
One online reviewer notes that she’s been coming to the campground since she was a kid and joins others’ high praise and affection for owner/managers Annie and Jim. Another describes the camping resort as “well-cared-for” and “clean,” and said she felt “safe and homey” during her visit. “It’s “more than a campground,” adds another frequent visitor, “it’s a way of life.”
Hampton Lodge is a member of the North Carolina Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. Note that the campground locks its gates at 11 p.m.
