First Monday in August
The first Monday in August is a big day for us! It's our annual kids fishing tournament!
This tournament is our crew's favorite trip of the season. We take kids aging from 6-14 years old on a half-day fishing charter to catch pigfish, croaker, sea mullet, grey trout, pufferfish, spot and sea bass. After the fishing charter, we have a cookout with hotdogs, watermelon, chips, and of course, ice cream! We have an award ceremony following the cookout where we give awards in two age categories: 6-10 and 11-14. The awards are for most fish, largest fish and first fish! Everyone who participated in the tournament will get a medal, tee-shirt, and fishing pole. It is a fun-packed day aboard the Miss Oregon Inlet II!
All the proceeds go to Cross Trail Outfitters, a Christian youth hunting and fishing club under the national umbrella of Cross Trail Outfitters. They are all about building relationships with youth, their families, landowners, volunteers, and donors. Primarily, they work with boys ages 7-20 by sowing into their lives through discipleship and mentorship, helping them to grow closer to God and seeking God first in their lives through a common interest in the outdoors.
