Fisherman’s Wharf is located in the fishing village of Wanchese on Roanoke Island. The restaurant has been owned and operated by the Daniels family for 38 years. All the seafood served in the restaurant comes from Wanchese Fish Company, which was established in 1936 and run by Malcolm Daniels. Today, the business is run by his fifteen children. Fresh, local seafood is their hallmark. And it can’t be any fresher as the restaurant overlooks the working commercial docks where it wouldn’t be unusual to see watermen hard at work preparing for a trip or bringing in their catch. Boats come to the docks on a regular basis. The best time to view depends on the season. Shrimp season usually lasts from mid-July through September making Friday and Saturday morning and lunchtime the best time to visit.

They have a lunch and dinner menu. Choose from appetizers including a shrimp dip, soups, salads and entrees of fried or broiled seafood. Imagine delicious flounder, shrimp, scallops, crabcakes, and clams. They also serve steak, chicken, and pasta and have a children’s menu.

The restaurant can accommodate large parties. While they do not take reservations, calling ahead is a good idea.  They are handicap-accessible via an elevator. This is an alcohol-free restaurant.
