Young explorers who want to learn everything there is to know about the local Outer Banks environment will have a ball at the Surf And Science Summer Camp – a weeklong summer camp that is hosted by the UNC Coastal Studies Institute. This day camp that’s held from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. will introduce kids ages 10-15 to a wealth of fun activities that can all be enjoyed in the central Outer Banks, including kayaking, pontoon boat trips, fishing, and even snorkeling. Along the way, kids will learn all about the area environment while discovering the local wildlife and ecosystems that make this string of barrier islands so remarkably unique.

Held throughout the summer with a different area of focus every week, the June 12 through June 16 camp highlights the surf and science aspects of the area, which means that kids can expect to enjoy ample time on the water exploring what lies just beneath the surface. Serving as a fun way to discover the cool blue landscapes of the OBX, this day camp is an exciting opportunity for local and visiting kids alike to dive into something new, and enjoy a new perspective of the wild Outer Banks scene.
