• Friday, July 19th - Saturday, July 20th

Now celebrating its 46th year, the Wright Kite Festival is a celebration of aviation that takes place where flight began – the Wright Brothers Memorial. Walk through the sprawling grounds of the museum and gain a little knowledge of the birthplace of aviation and then put this knowledge to the test outside with Kitty Hawk Kites. Large kites will be on display throughout the weekend, joining in the sky with the Wright Memorial!

The Wright Kite Festival is presented by Kitty Hawk Kites and the Wright Brothers National Memorial, and visitors will discover that there’s plenty to see and do during the all-day affair. Enjoy a walk through the museum, and on the hollowed grounds where Wilbur and Orville took their historic first flight in 1903, then come join us for some fun flight of your own.

Large 30 - 100 foot kites will be flying high on display, and visitors are invited to come fly kites of their own, take FREE stunt and power kite flying lessons, and to bring the kiddos on over to the kite making station for a little creative fun. With so much to see and do, the Wright Kite Festival is a fun way to discover the history and inherently breezy fun of the Outer Banks.
