Elizabeth II

Berthed on Manteo's picturesque waterfront, Elizabeth II is a reproduction of a 16th century sixty-nine foot, square-rigged sailing vessel representative of those used to transport Sir Walter Raleigh's first Colonists to the New World in 1585.

Built to commemorate the New World's Quadricentennial, every detail is as authentic as possible. It was given to the state of North Carolina in 1984, at the beginning of the four-year celebration.

Visitors enjoy guided tours and the special video program, "A Roanoke Voyage", describing life aboard a 16th century ship. During the summer season, living history interpreters portray mariners and colonists from Raleigh's voyages.
